Bethany Lutheran Staff

Well, you can definitely call me a southern boy. I was born and raised in Norfolk Virginia, where some of my family still reside. I left Virginia in 1989 to join the United States Air Force and I spent almost 26 years serving our country all over the world. While serving, I completed both my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and my Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education. After retirement in 2014, I moved to Minot, North Dakota. I was a school teacher until the summer of 2019 and now I am the Associate Pastor for Deering and Bethany Lutheran Church.
I am married to an amazing woman, Kathy Jo (Nelson) and we have three children, Lyn-Marie, Thomas, and Leif. We also four grandbabies that we just can not get enough. My free time is spent working in the yard, BBQing, reading, and fishing. My favorite saying: God is good all the time; and all the time God is good!

Originally from Carpio, ND the daughter of Ronald and Blanche Johnson, I have lived in N.D. all my life. I am married to Stacy Abrahamson for almost 20 years now. We have one daughter, Hallie, who has started her freshman year at NDSU-Go Bison! I have 3 stepsons and a grandson, Joshua and his son Hunter(Minot), Jordan(Fargo), and Justin(Minot). We ranch south of Blaisedale on the Roy Abrahamson farm where we currently raise cattle and a couple horses. We also own and operate Abrahamson Trucking here in Minot. In my spare time, I enjoy running after the kids & their sports, spoiling my two puppies (Izzy & Dora), gardening, cooking, haying and looking after cows. Before coming to Bethany Lutheran Church, I had spent many years at Center for Family Medicine in the billing office. I am very excited to become a part of Bethany Lutheran Church as Office Manager! Everyone has been so kind and welcoming!

I was baptized at Deering Lutheran Church in 2001 and started attending Bethany in 2008. I attended Our Redeemer’s Christian School and received an Associate degree from Dakota College at Bottineau. I have enjoyed my participation in the Carol Choir, Chapel Choir, Believers Handbell Choir, LYO, Synod Youth Board, and Kathy’s Kitchen Crew on Wednesday nights. I look forward to an exciting year as the new Education Coordinator.
